UN: Iran is painted as 'evil' by West – Zakharova

Western countries are painting Iran as the new evil, according to Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova in her interview with RT on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Friday.

"I think that a key word of this General Assembly if you will take a serious look on Western countries' statements is Iran. This is the evil of nowadays," said Zakharova.

She called on the United States to reverse its approach to Iran, pointing to their recent policy shift on North Korea.

The foreign ministry spokesperson also praised the Iranian nuclear deal – formally referred to as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA – as an example of how the world could co-operate to overcome problems.
