Here's a little showcase video showing off my new radial solenoid engine.

There are eight 7.2 ohm solenoids which power this engine. They run off of 12 volts at about 1.5 amps.

The solenoids are made from 26 AWG copper wire. They are wrapped over a 3/8th inch copper pipe, and housed in a larger pipe. This is purely cosmetic.

The connecting arms are made from 1/8th in aluminum, with the master connecting rod at the top.

The crankshaft is made from a 1 1/4 inch steel washer. The master connecting rod is fixed to this, while the others are allowed to articulate.

The shaft is made from a threaded 1/4th inch steel bolt.

The distributor is made from a 1/4 inch piece of aluminum, and 8 lever switches with rollers.

The base is made from walnut and aluminum, with two steel connections for mounting the engine.

The engine is powered by an old computer power supply, running off of the 12 volt rail.

In all, the project took roughly 50 hours to complete. It was designed in a way that would allow for a 1/4 inch copper pipe to connect the solenoids together for liquid cooling, however, I chose not to do this due to the complexity of water cooling.
