The Criteria for Divine Tests

O people who are discerning and religious, don’t grumble. Don’t grumble. Never mind.

A tradition says, “The Almighty God tests His Friends in accordance with the amount of their faith and their degree in religion.” (Amali, Tusi, p. 465) It’s according to the amount of their religion, faith and their degree in religion. God doesn’t expect a lot from everyone. I swear to God, you can see some people are not as religious as you are. But, perhaps you will see them enter Heaven sooner than you. God doesn’t expect him at all. He hasn’t given it to him.

We used to say this at the front during the wartime. The soldiers had a special morale. I mean he was going to be killed for others although he knew that others were not even praying all their prayers. Some hadn’t even finished their high school or gone to the university. But, this person at the front was a university student. He had been accepted into Medical School in Tehran University. He had come to the Habib Garrison. He didn’t care about it. We used to say, “See, maybe those who will stay alive because of your being sacrificed, God doesn’t expect from them at all. Never mind. Do your own duty.”

“The Almighty God tests His Friends in accordance with the amount of their faith and their degree in religion.” (Amali, Tusi, p. 465) Another tradition says, “People’s share of faith varies. Some people have one share. Some have two shares. Up to ten shares. Each person’s tests are determined according to his share.”
