¿Quiero o necesito? Don’t make these common mistakes using the verbs “to want” and “to need” in Spanish. When English speakers use the verb “to need”, they have at least two options in Spanish, the verbs “necesitar”, and “querer”. In this video you will learn that “necesitar”, “to need”, is a verb that is used more often in English than in Spanish. This causes that when speaking Spanish, English speakers overuse the verb “to need”, “necesitar”. Their overuse of “to need” in English is understandable since “querer”, “to want”, could be harsher and impolite. Spanish students think this could also be the case in Spanish. But it is not. You have to remember that “querer”, “to want” is not rude in Spanish, if you use it in the right context and form. This video will show you when to use the verb “necesitar”, and when not use it. This video will explain to you why you may want to use the verb “querer” instead of “necesitar” in Spanish. You will learn that there is a big difference between what you “need” and what you “want” in Spanish. You will also learn to conjugate these verbs in past and future, and you will learn some fun and useful expressions with the verb “querer”, to want, and “necesitar” to need. So I don’t care if you don’t want to learn this topic because the fact is, you need to learn this topic in order to be fluent in Spanish!
