There ar emainly two types of AC Motors. Also, those are totally depended on which type of rotor used in it.

The first type of AC Motor is called as Induction Motor. Induction Motor runs slightly slower than the supply frequency. In Induction Motor, the magnetic field on the rotor is created by an induced current.

The Second Type of AC Motor is called as Synchronous Motor. Synchronous Motor does not depend on induction & as a result, it can rotate exactly at the supply frequency. Also, it can rotate at the sub multiple of the supply frequency.
