The demonstrators took to the streets of the northern village of Abu Saiba. They demanded the regime heed calls by the UN and other human rights organizations to resolve the political crisis in the country and free the political prisoners. Anti-regime protesters have been holding demonstrations in the kingdom since mid-February 2011. They want the Al Khalifa ruling family to relinquish power. Scores of people have been killed and many ended up behind bars in Manama’s ongoing crackdown on peaceful demonstrations.
