Iran: Khamenei advisor lauds Russia, China as partners against US sanctions

Russia and China are major political and economic partners to Iran in countering US sanctions, said Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser on international affairs to the Supreme Leader of Iran, in Tehran on Monday.

Speaking at a seminar on Iran's strategic foreign policy, Velayati defined Russia and China as "two countries which are willing to accept US sanctions and even the ransom made to the Europeans who are saying they are loyal to the JCPOA."

"Both Russia and China are answering Iran’s invitation. They are in talks to come and buy US sanctions with their lives," Velayati said.

"In defence issues we have no problem with Russia," Velayati added. "Did they not give us the S300 [Air Defence System]? S300 is a strategic defence weapon. We have no problem with procuring advanced defence requirements from Russia."
