The unity government is led by Fayez al-Sarraj, who was named prime minister-designate under the deal and has 32 ministers. The move has been welcomed by the U-N special envoy for Libya. Martin Kobler has called on the internationally recognized parliament and the House of Representatives, to promptly convene and endorse the unity government. Libya's internationally recognized parliament and members of the Tripoli-based General National Congress signed the unity government deal back in December to end years of violence in the North African country. Armed groups and regional factions in Libya have been engaged in battles since former dictator Muammar Gaddafi was ousted in 20-11.
