After years of suspicions, the US government has finally acknowledged that missing former FBI agent Robert Levinson is NOT in Iran. White House spokesman Josh Earnest said there’s enough reasons to believe that Levinson is no longer in Iran. Earnest refused to explain further but said Washington would continue to press for information about his whereabouts. On Sunday, President Barack Obama also pledged to bring back the former agent. Levinson reportedly went missing during a visit to Iran’s southern Kish Island in 2007. Tehran has categorically denied any involvement in his disappearance and promised to help determine his fate. The Levinson story resurfaced following the recent prisoner exchange between Iran and the United States. Levinson's family criticized the Obama administration for its failure to inform them that the missing former FBI agent was not among those freed.
