MSF raps EU deterrent policy against refugees

M-S-F accused European governments of a lack of a coordinated response, and unilateral actions in their policy towards refugee. She said EU enforces policies, such as border closure and tougher policing, without considering the people’s needs. Meanwhile, the group’s head of operations said the policies of deterrence only worsen the humanitarian situation of fleeing refugees, including vulnerable women and children. The group called on the E-U to allow asylum applications at the land border between Turkey and Greece. Last year, more than one million refugees arrived in the EU.
