Amano: New phase starts in Iran, IAEA relations

Yukiya Amano said he plans to establish an office in the Department of Safeguards to take charge of the agency’s safeguards, verification and monitoring activities in Iran. He added that verifying Iran's completion of the necessary preparatory steps under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was a complex and difficult task. The Iranian delegation at the IAEA said Iran is committed to continue to fulfill its commitments as enshrined in the JCPOA. It stressed that Iran’s undertakings should be reciprocated by other parties in order to guarantee the success of the deal.
