12 Basketball Training Drills To Improve Your Scoring!

What’s up guys?! Today I’m giving you a mix of drills, moves, and concepts that you can add to your training to become a better scorer.


Reverse Pivot Step Back 00:10 - 1:54

The first move/drill is a move that works really well against defenders that are putting a lot of pressure on you. Use this move to create space for your jump shot.


One Handed Shooting Series 1:55 - 4:20

Next we get into the one hand shooting series. This is a great drill to help you master your shooting form. The focus here is body positioning so that you feel comfortable.


As you can see I like a tilted stance when I shoot but not everybody is most comfortable this way. Find a base that is most comfortable for you then stick with it.


Place the ball in a shot pocket that feels comfortable then shoot the basketball. Be sure to snap your wrist and hold your follow through. This drill will help you improve your entire shot, from the base to the release.


Two Ball Scoring Series 4:21 - 6:38

In the two ball scoring series I have added two variations. This is more of an advanced drill but it works on ball-handling, passing, shooting off the dribble, and off the catch all at once. There aren’t many drills that combine everything like these drills.


First few reps you will do between the legs then move to behind the back. This drill works best if you have a rebounder because then you can get extra shots up.


Mid-Range Progression Drill 6:39 - 11:56

Here we have 3 moves/drills that will help you develop your midrange game. The first move is a “pound 1-2” pull-up. Once you make your sets and reps you will then move on to the “pound 1-2” hesitation pull-up. Last but not least you will go into a “pound 1-2” hesitation stepback.


This progression series will help you master this deadly combination as well as counters so that you become tougher to guard off the dribble.


2 Ball Mikan Drill 11:57 - End

Last but not least we get into the 2 ball Mikan drill. There are 4 different drills within this drill. We will start with overhand layups. We will then move to side arm lay ups. Next you will do reverse lay ups and finish with same foot, extra english lay ups.


Add all of these drills to your training and transform yourself into an elite scorer!
